The Foundation of a healthy hospital

Have you ever wondered how hospital equipment is purchased?

Donations made by individuals and partners to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation (The Foundation) help fund the acquisition of equipment used to diagnose, treat and care for patients. Glance around any patient room or treatment area and you will see the impact of donations.

Donors also support research programs, education for hospital staff and redevelopment initiatives.

A friendly Foundation family

“Our entire team is passionate about forming relationships with donors,” says Pearl Veenema, the President and CEO of The Foundation. “Donors often have personal and heartwarming reasons for giving, and their stories inspire and motivate us every day.”

A donation can be made in many ways, and The Foundation team provides guidance to help donors choose a giving option that aligns with their philanthropic interests.

“Our entire team is passionate about forming relationships with donors.”

“The support of donors and partners has touched nearly every area of the hospital,” says Pearl. “From replacing the most basic necessities to investing in sophisticated new technologies, donors have an enormous impact on the care that is provided across Hamilton Health Sciences.”

The Foundation has worked alongside donors throughout the years to fundraise for several major campaigns, such as Enabling Dreams, which funded the equipment at Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre. One ongoing campaign is Tomorrow Stems From You, which is supporting the creation of a dedicated stem cell transplant unit at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre.

A new Foundation home

On May 1, The Foundation moved to its new office space on the seventh floor of the Commerce Place building at 1 King St. W.

“Our new space will help us attain an exciting new level of engagement connecting with patients and community partners,” says Pearl.
